Corporal John Stalvey joined the United States Marine Corps following the terrorist attacks on 9/11. After boot camp graduation and serving tours of duty as an infantryman in Cuba, Africa, and Afghanistan, John was later accepted into the USMC Scout Sniper School in Quantico, VA.
Upon graduation from Sniper School, he was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force in Camp Lejune, NC. John was deployed to Iraq, and was killed in action by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces during Operation Iron Fist in Karabilah, Iraq.
The Cpl. John Stalvey Foundation is a 501c(3), nonprofit organization
dedicated to serving those that have served our country and their
families. The Cpl. John Stalvey 5K proceeds go to the Cpl. John Stalvey
Foundation for this purpose.
